The Distant Conspirators

Blame Lemme!

The Distant Conspirators were not so much formed as fell into place ….and it's all Lemme Kilmister's fault!

You see, when the world woke up to the news on the 28th December 2015, that Motorhead's Lemme Kilmister had passed away, it was a sad day for Rock 'n' Rollers the world over. For anyone switched on to Rock 'n' Roll from the 1970s on, Lemme was the epitome of no compromise; play the music that you love and care not one jot what anyone else might say or think.

I was sad. So were many of my friends, so for what it was worth we decided that we would make our own tribute to the high priest of the Rickenbacker Bass himself. We decided we would record a Motorhead track, not one of the obvious choices, but one of the many lesser known great songs Lemme had written over the years.

The only hurdle to get over now was that fact that the friends that I wanted to record this with were all, on average, some ten thousand kilometres apart. But get over it we did, & with the help of the wonders of modern recording technology & that thing called the internet, we managed to breathe life into our version of the Motorhead track 'You Better Run' (which you can hear via the link at the foot of this page).

Adding a whole new slant to the track, Steven Woods, my ex partner in crime for many years in the UK, leant the vocals.

One of the finest bass players & all round musicians that Germany's Ruhr Valley has to offer, Timo Oehlke, added the bass. Another son of the valleys, the Welsh ones, Geoff Squires, added his bar room Harp serenade.

Then someone said…..'Awesome, now we should make an album'. Like a fool I said yes!

This coincided with what will likely be remebered in years to come as the age of the great global lockdown and the days that the music died....or did it?

Mike decided to make the best use of some bad times and started to call in some musical favours from a whole bunch of musos who he had been priveledged to play with over the years & the concept of The Distant Conspirators came together.

Four years on from that first recording, the debut album from The Distant Conspirators 'Me & My Friends' is now complete. The Distant Conspirators posse numbers some fourteen fine muso friends at the last count.

I have a feeling that this my friends, is only the beginning………thanks Lemme!

If you like what you hear & you would like to saddle up for the next adventure, let us know.
